Greetings to the Emma B. Ward Community!

What a great start to the school year! Our EBW staff are talented, passionate, student-centered teachers who have a track record of building strong relationships and classroom cultures while holding students accountable to high expectations. As a result of our teacher dedication and detailed planning for a strong school year, we could not be more pleased about how these first few weeks have gone.  We welcome you as partners in your child’s education and hope you will be a familiar face at Emma B. Ward  this year. We value your presence during all school events and hope to provide a variety of opportunities to help us connect with your child and family. I look forward to our work together this year!

I am excited to announce that this year we have registered and are participating in the Kind Campus program sponsored by the Ben’s Bells in Tucson, Arizona.  This is an organization that I have been personally involved with for many years. Kind Campus schools exist all over the country, but am thrilled that we are the first school to register in Kentucky!  The mission of Ben’s Bells is to inspire, educate, and motivate people to realize the impact of intentional kindness, and to empower individuals to act according to that awareness, thereby strengthening ourselves, our relationships and our communities.  The Kind Campus program includes monthly classroom education material as well as a kindness nomination program. Students will be recognized each month for their random acts of kindness. Students have already been introduced to the program by myself and their teachers.  This week they have been nominating their fellow students for kindness awards. Building positive relationships is a key factor in student success and I believe this program will continue to foster those strong relationships that are already a cornerstone of Emma B. Ward’s culture.

I look forward to a wonderful year ahead.
