Anderson County Schools

Dear Emma B. Ward Families,

On behalf of the entire staff at Emma B. Ward Elementary School, it is my pleasure to welcome you to the 2022-23 school year!  Whether you are a returning family or new to Emma B. Ward, we are thrilled you will be with us!  I feel privileged to begin my fifth year as the principal at Emma B. Ward.

We recognize that in order to be successful, children need support from both home and school. As partners, we share the responsibility for the success of all students and want you to know that we will work diligently to carry out our responsibilities.   Our mission at Emma B. Ward is to:

  • Foster positive relationships

  • Obtain skills to learn and grow

  • Respect ourselves, school, and others

  • Work toward common goals

  • Achieve our personal best

  • Recognize our successes

  • Dedicate ourselves to life-long learning

I am excited to announce this year’s Summer Slide Challenge!  We encourage all of our students to continue reading and practicing math facts over the summer to prevent learning loss.  Your welcome packet includes a Summer Reading Treasure Hunt, a Reading Log, and Math Fact Log. (Incoming 5th Graders have a Lemonade War Packet) Complete all sections, have a parent/guardian sign it, and return it the first week of school.  Everyone who returns their Summer Slide Challenge packet will receive a prize!  Those students who log the most reading and math fact minutes will receive a special recognition!

The Emma B. Ward staff and I feel privileged to be a part of your school family. We thank you for your support and look forward to seeing you in August.
