KY Safe Schools Week Pledge

The Kentucky Center for School Safety is proud to announce this year’s KY Safe Schools Week is set for October 17-23, 2021.

This year’s theme is “BE A SAFETY STAR” the focus will be on the multi-faceted brilliance of what it means to be a safety star in school and in life. From the acts of kindness and respectfulness to following all safety rules and guidelines, being a true SAFETY STAR includes shining bright in all these areas. These outstanding students put others first without focusing on themselves.

Message from Superintendent Mitchell - TikTok Challenge

Parents and Guardians, you may have heard of the recent TikTok “Devious Licks” challenge in September encouraging students to vandalize school property. Please be aware that news sources are reporting that the trend is continuing, on a month to month basis, with new concerning challenges emerging. Parents, guardians and families can help prevent incidents by being aware of their student's access to social media accounts as well as reminding students through conversations at home about being respectful to others, their property and making good decisions.  Reminding students of the consequences that may come from inappropriate actions if participating in destruction challenges also provides the same clear message at home that they are receiving at school.  We appreciate all of the support that we receive from our parents and guardians.

I was recently asked several questions by The Anderson News concerning the TikTok challenge and how it has affected us. Follow the link above to see those questions answered as well as links to resources to help parents/guardians with social media questions.
