School-Based Decision Making (SBDM) Councils

School-Based Decision Making (SBDM) Councils create school policies and make a wide range of decisions, ranging from selecting textbooks to choosing a new principal. Most of our schools have a council which include three teachers, two parents, and an administrator. The teachers and parents are elected to the council.

All SBDM Council policies are designed to help improve student achievement and must be consistent with Anderson County Board of Education policies.

SBDM Council Member Trainings

State law requires all council members to receive annual training. New council members receive six hours of training. Returning members receive three hours.
