Weekly Update [February 22, 2019]
Eastern Kentucky University will be here Friday March 1st during CCR and lunch to speak with admitted students, talk about scholarships, and answer questions.  

All juniors will take the ACT on March 12th.  

The Anderson County Scholarship is available on ACHS Counselor's Office Webpage at: http://www.anderson.k12.ky.us/counselorsoffice1.aspxat the bottom of the page.  

The local scholarship packet is available in the guidance office.  Students must sign to pick one up.  



Yearbook order forms were distributed this week.  There is an attachment with an order form as well.

We, at Commonwealth Credit Union, are excited to share with your graduating seniors an opportunity to win a $1,000 scholarship! In order to further the educational endeavors of all students, this scholarship can be used at any post-secondary institution, including trade schools and other forms of higher education, that result in students earning a diploma or certification.

 

We need your help, though, in getting the word out to your seniors about this scholarship opportunity. The following link will provide all the details and information needed to apply: https://ccuky.org/scholarshipinfo/scholarships.php The deadline is March 30, 2019, so please begin sharing this information and link with your seniors as soon as possible

 

Who is Eligible?

All* high school seniors who are the primary account holder** on their Commonwealth Credit Union membership on or before March 15, 2019. Applicants must be attending a university, college, secondary education, or trade school resulting in certification or license full time in the fall of 2019 and provide verification of acceptance/enrollment to said institution. Scholarship winners must agree to attend a minimum of two (2) presentation ceremonies. If selected, the students will also need to provide their official high school transcript.

*CCU employees, board members, scholarship judges, and their families are not eligible.

**Students who are not yet CCU members, but who would like to apply for a scholarship, may open a savings account at their local branch (locations: https://www.ccuky.org/locations_atms.php), through calling our Central Services Branch at 800-228-6420, or applying online  at https://secure.loanspq.com/Consumer/Xpress/public/Disclosure.aspx

 

 

What is offered to my students?

A $1,000 scholarship will be awarded to 4 graduating high school seniors. This scholarship is non-transferable and distributed as a one-time payment.

 

When is it due?

The application deadline is March 30, 2019, at 12:00 noon EST.

 

How do student apply?

Students will need to produce and Upload a 5-7-minute Unlisted Video to YouTube that addresses each of the following:

=         How are you bettering lives in your community now?

=         How can CCU better the lives of college-aged students?

=         How will your education enable you to better lives in the future?

=         What are you looking for from your banking experience?

(An unlisted video is a type of private video. Unlisted means that only people with the url link can view the video, so that it remains private.)

A quick reminder, especially to high school professional counselors, the Kimberly D. Merritt "Achieve Your Dreams" Scholarship application is still available. The deadline has been extended to March 1, 2019.  Please encourage any and all students to apply as soon as possible.  Students can fill out this application.  Winners will be announced at the KYACAC conference.

Greetings from the National CCAA! I hope February is off to a great start.

Once again, we are pleased to offer our National CCAA Scholarship. Please share the following with your graduating seniors:

The National CCAA Scholarship is awarded to eight college-going high school seniors from various geographic regions attending one of our member institutions in Fall 2019.

The scholarship awards were established by the National CCAA’s Board of Directors to promote Catholic higher education. We also aim to engage high school counselors in our effort to further encourage Catholic higher education.

The National CCAA Scholarship is a one-time, $1,000 award. This year's application is now available. The application is brief and will take students a few minutes to complete. The deadline to apply is March 15 and award recipients will be selected in mid to late March. BEFORE YOU MAY ENTER, YOUR PARENT/LEGAL GUARDIAN MUST CONSENT
TO YOUR PARTICIPATION IN THE CONTEST, AS DESCRIBED BELOW.
1. ELIGIBILITY: The TeenDrive365 Video Challenge 2019 (“Contest”) is open to legal
residents of the 48 contiguous United States, Hawaii, Alaska and the District of Columbia
(“U.S.”) who are at least thirteen (13) years of age and are students enrolled in 9th through 12th
grade at a public, private, parochial, or home school located in the U.S., at the time of entry and
when prizes are awarded. Employees, officers and directors of Discovery Education, Inc.
(“Sponsor”), its promotional partner Toyota Motor Sales, U.S.A., Inc. (“TMS”), Toyota Motor
North America, Inc. (“Toyota”), Promotion Mechanics, Inc. (“Administrator”), their respective
parents, subsidiaries, affiliates, advertising and promotion agencies, promotional suppliers, and
the immediate family members (spouse, siblings, and children, regardless of where they live) or
members of the same households (whether related or not) of such employees, officers and
directors (aforementioned individuals and organizations collectively, “Contest Entities”) are not
eligible. Void where prohibited.
2. CONTEST TIMING:
• Entry “Submission Period”: The Entry Submission Period begins at 5:00 PM Eastern
Time (“ET”) on September 25, 2018 and ends at 8:00 PM ET on February 28, 2019.
• Judging: On or before March 22, 2019, all eligible entries will be judged by the
Sponsor’s designated judges in accordance with the Judging Criteria set forth in Section 7
below, to determine ten (10) Finalists and other prize winners.
• “Public Voting Period”: Beginning on or about 5:00 PM ET on April 9, 2019 and
through 5:00 PM ET on April 23, 2019, the general public (age 13 and older) will have
the opportunity to vote for the entry that they feel has the best solution for distracted
driving. This entry will be named the “People’s Choice” Winner.
• Winner Announcement: The winners will be announced by June 30, 2019.
The Sponsor reserves the right to change the timing of the Public Voting Period as deemed
necessary in its sole opinion. If such changes are made, the new timing will be posted at the
Contest Website www.TeenDrive365.com.
3. BRIEF CONTEST DESCRIPTION: Eligible students, either working alone or in a
group of two to four students (“Participant(s)”), have the opportunity to create an original video
in accordance with the Video Challenge outlined in Section 5. For Participant(s) to officially
enter the Contest, the Participant(s) must be registered as described in Section 4 and the
Participant(s)’ video must be uploaded between 5:00 PM ET on September 25, 2018 and 8:00
PM ET on February 28, 2019. Eligible students may not be in more than one group. Limit one
(1) entry per Participant(s). Entries will be judged according to the process and criteria set forth
in Section 7. The ten (10) videos with the highest overall scores will be deemed Finalists. Prizes
are described in Section 8 below.

4. TO REGISTER: During the Submission Period, Participant(s) and their parent(s)/legal
guardian(s) may register for the Contest by going to www.TeenDrive365.com (the “Website”)
and following the on-screen directions. Information requested on the Registration Form will
include each Participant’s full name, home phone number, email address, date of birth, school
grade, school name and address, and parent/legal guardian’s name and email address. The
parent/legal guardian of each of the Participants must indicate his/her consent to his/her child’s
participation in the Contest. Once the Participant(s) and their parent/guardians submit the
registration information, the Participant(s) will be prompted to set up a username and password.
Username and password confirmation will be sent to the Participant(s) at the email provided on
the Registration Form. Once the registration process is complete, the Participant(s) may use their
username and password in order to submit the Participant(s)’ video as described in Section 6.
The video must be submitted no later than 8:00 PM ET on February 28, 2019.

Save the Date! Women of Distinction at Smith College

Dear Colleague,

Women of Distinction is a program for high school seniors that highlights the opportunities at Smith for African American, Latina, Asian American, and Native American students. Admission is competitive. Smith will provide round-trip transportation, meals and accommodations for all participants.

The program will take place on October 18-20, 2019.

The deadline to apply for the annual Women of Distinction program at Smith College is Friday, June 14, 2019. The application will be available on Wednesday, May 1, 2019. Please note only current high school juniors are eligible to apply.
