U.S. News & World Report Ranks Anderson County High School Among Best High Schools

Washington, D.C. – August 29, 2023 – Anderson County High School has been ranked No. 3,115 in the nation among the 2023-2024 Best High Schools by U.S. News & World Report. The rankings evaluate more than 17,600 schools at the national, state and local level. Anderson County High School was also ranked No. 35 in Kentucky and No. 1 in the Frankfort, KY metropolitan area.

“We are elated about the recognition our students and faculty have received for their efforts,” Superintendent Sheila Mitchell noted. “The students in our schools continue to impress us with their resilience, with their growth, and with their successes. The ranking also indicates the hard work our faculty and staff put in each day to teach and guide our students as well as the support from parents/guardians and the local community. This recognition is a success for us all.”

The methodology that determines ranking focuses on six indicators of school quality: college readiness; breadth of curriculum; scores on state proficiency tests; performance in reading, math, and science; underserved student performance; and graduation rates.

“Having access to a strong high school program is paramount for students as they face an ever-changing world,” says Liana Loewus, managing editor of education at U.S. News. “Making data on our high schools available helps parents ensure their child is in the educational environment that best sets them up to thrive.”

Anderson County School’s mission statement is to provide a safe environment for learning, where students learn how to be both responsible and prepared for the future. According to the measures set forth by U.S. News and World Report, the schools in our district (like Anderson County High School) are thriving.
