Anderson County Schools

Greetings all !

My name is Jeff Silvers, chemistry teacher at ACHS for 2020/21. I welcome you to my class this year. Although we are starting virtual, it is my hope that we will soon have face to face classes again and get back to normal.

Since the future is unknown, and we are virtual, it is important that you link to the appropriate Google Classroom. I have sent out invites for this already, so check your e-mail. On classroom, you will find the class syllabus, a greeting and already quite a bit of work posted.

I intend to make chemistry a meaningful class for you and will do everything I can to help you succeed in class. Always feel free to contact me for help.

As for me, this is my 28th year teaching science and have taught pretty much anything science from middle school to high school. I am an outdoor person and enjoy many outdoor activities from panning for gold and gems in North Carolina to ocean fishing and scuba diving in Florida. I often hunt for fossils and minerals locally as well. I am an animal person, currently with a dog (my child) and a 150 gallon aquariums full of fish. I have had snakes, frogs, salamanders, turtles, an alligator, sugar gliders, ferrets, a raccoon and a few other critters. I have made a few science videos and was a snake wrangler for one episode of The Crocodile Hunter with Steve Irwin.

I am an author with one book published and a few others in the works. I love to read, especially Sherlock Holmes stories. I am interested in ancient aliens and cryptozoology (bigfoot, Nessie, etc) and ancient civilizations.

I hope to see you soon and learn about you and I will do everything I can to help you succeed this coming year.
