Assessment and accountability scores were released on Friday, October 3. Anderson County earned a performance level rating of Proficient for the second year in a row, with an overall score of 70.1. That’s well above the goal of 68.2. That score placed the district tied for fifty-fifth in the state, third in central Kentucky.
“We are pleased with the progress made in every school. We are so proud of our teachers, students and school leaders. Our hard work is paying off,” said Superintendent Sheila Mitchell. At the October 6th School Board Meeting, Sharon Jackman, Instructional Supervisor reported gains at every school. There is a trend of improvement in achievement in nearly all subject areas across the district over the last three years.
ACHS increased in gap and growth and earned 19.5 out of 20 points in graduation rate. ACMS increased in every area for an increase in the Overall Learner Scores from 53.2 in 2013 to 55.6. Saffell Street Elementary School increased in achievement and gap. Emma B. Ward Elementary increased in every area and nearly reached the Distinguished rating, barely missing by only half of a point. Robert B. Turner Elementary also made impressive gains in every area and was rated Distinguished and received the highest honor of School of Distinction.
Of the three elementary schools in the Anderson County School District, Robert B. Turner Elementary was named School of Distinction, Distinguished/Progressing, scoring in the top 5% of over 700 elementary schools in Kentucky, and two were named Proficient, – Emma B. Ward Elementary, Proficient/Progressing, scoring in the top 25% of all elementary schools in Kentucky and Saffell Street Elementary, scoring Proficient. Anderson County Middle School was rated Needs Improvement/Progressing and Anderson County High School was rated Needs Improvement.
Area districts according to ranking:
• Anderson County scored a 70.1, ranked in the 86th KY percentile and earned Proficient.
• Scott County scored a 70.0, ranked in the 85th KY percentile and earned Proficient /Progressing.
• Burgin Independent scored a 69.7, ranked in the 83rd KY percentile and earned Proficient/Progressing. It was marked as a high progress district.
• Marion County scored a 69.6, ranked in the 82nd KY percentile and earned Proficient.
• Shelby County scored a 68.5, ranked in the 76th KY percentile and earned Proficient/Progressing
• Franklin County scored a 66.2, ranked in the 59th KY percentile and was rated Needs Improvement.
• Mercer County scored a 66.1, ranked in the 59th KY percentile and was rated Needs Improvement.
• Washington County scored a 66.1, ranked in the 59th KY percentile and was rated Needs Improvement.
• State score of 68.7, 77th KY percentile and Proficient/Progressing.
