There have been confirmed cases of pertussis "whooping cough" at Emma B. Elementary School. School administration has worked closely with Health Department Director, Tim Wright and state epidemiologist. Additional thorough cleanings and mid day cleanings will continue to be done until further notice. A letter has been sent to parents informing them of confirmed cases and symptoms to watch for. Parents of students in close contact were called by phone and will continue to be contacted if additional cases are confirmed. Parents will be notified that free vaccinations will be offered by the Health Department at Emma B. Ward on Friday for students in grade 5. We will continue to keep parents informed and additional communication will be posted on the district website. Safety continues to be our number one priority.
