Attention ACHS 9th, 10th, and 11th grade students!!!
If you are interested in taking the PSAT this year, registration will begin on Monday, August 24th at 8:00 am. The test will be given on Wednesday, October 14th during the school day. To register, visit the Total Registration website at:
A few things to keep in mind:
*Registration will close on September 21st at 3:00 pm. THERE WILL BE NO LATE REGISTRATION AVAILABLE.
*Free/Reduced Lunch Waivers will be available for JUNIORS ONLY. If you are a junior and you receive Free/Reduced Lunch, select that option when registering and it will send a notification to the guidance counselors for approval.

*We will not be accepting any payments for this test at the school. You will both register, and pay through Total Registration.

The application for SEED is now live! The deadline to apply is September 15.

Important: Students must submit aparent/guardian release form with their application.

Founded on the principles of pluralism, tolerance and inclusion, Brandeis is a place where exceptional young minds from diverse backgrounds come together to form a unique and vibrant campus community. Students Exploring and Embracing Diversity (SEED) will celebrate multiculturalism and social justice at our dynamic university. SEED attendees will stay on campus November 1-3 for specialized academic programming and community building.

Students who attend SEED will have a chance to:

Travel scholarships: Scholarships are available to cover students’ transportation costs to and from Brandeis. All meals and accommodations will be provided.

Application: The application deadline is September 15. To be considered, you must submit your SEED application which should include a copy of your high school transcript and a completed and signed parent/guardian release form.

Important dates: Students will be notified on a rolling basis, but no later than October 5, regarding the outcome of their SEED application.

Eligibility: Students must be rising high school seniors and currently reside in the United States to be eligible to attend SEED. Preference will be given to students who are underrepresented in higher education, including first-generation, low-income, and minority students.

Every year Wendy’s® High School Heisman® recognizes more than 5,000 of the best male and female high school seniors and rewards $120,000 in donations to schools across the country. Wendy’s is looking for the next class of remarkable students who excel in academics, athletics, and community involvement to receive the Heisman honors. Now through October 2, 2015, class of 2016 graduating seniors can apply at www.wendyshighschoolheisman.com.

As a former reviewer, please tell eligible students to apply or refer students using thisonline form.

To be eligible, a student must have:
  • Maintained at least a ‘B’ grade point average
  • Participated in one of 43 eligible school sponsored sports
  • Demonstrated active involvement in his or her community
Winners are identified at the local, state and national level. National Finalists spend a once-in-a-lifetime weekend attending the Heisman Trophy presentation in New York City and two national winners will be announced during the presentation broadcast on ESPN.

Students receive the recognition they deserve and their school can be one of 100 high schools who receive up to $5,000 in donations.


The Wendy’s High School Heisman program is truly a stepping stone toward high achievements, and with college admissions growing more selective, a national award of this caliber can help students stand out. Anderson County College and Career Fair is Wednesday September 16th from 9:00 am to 11:00 am. All senior and junior students will have the opportunity to visit our fair in Gym C. Last year we had over 45 colleges, universities, and career opportunities represented. Please see attached flyer to register before the fair to get your own bar-code to scan at each both instead of filling out the info cards!!!


Senior Parent Night is Thursday September 17th at 6:00 pm in cafeteria B located in the east wing. This night is for parents and/or students to get information about timelines for college applications, financial aid, and other information that seniors need to know for their senior year. If you are unable to come, just have your student stop by the guidance office after the meeting and get the info we handed out.




Seniors that WANT to take the ASVAB on September 17th but are already college and career ready by meeting the ACT benchmarks, need to see Ms. Miracle in the guidance office to reserve a spot.

The SportQuest Playing With Purpose Scholarship Program is a national program that honors and encourages high school student athletes who excel athletically, academically and havecommitted their life to following Christ. Through scholarships, college exposure, community and national recognition, and more, we want to see them succeed and make a difference in this world.

The Playing With Purpose message encourages athletes to serve rather than being served, to lead with humility and engage culture.

Please help us recognize and reward the outstanding young men and women in your school and community.

Criteria:
Applying student athletes must meet ALL of the following criteria:

1. Currently a high school sophomore, junior or senior

2. Maintains a minimum "C" grade average or higher

3. Currently a varsity level athlete in one or more sports

4. A committed follower of Jesus Christ

KSBA First Degree College Scholarship Program
For the fourth consecutive year, the Kentucky School Boards Association will provide $2,500 college scholarships to one male and to one female member of the Class of 2015.

The scholarship is good to any two-year, four-year college or university, in state or out. This is a one-year, nonrenewable scholarship.

Nominations of one male and/or one female student per public school district, selected by the school board.

Nominees must be:

1) A high school senior intending to go to college;

2) From an immediate family (parents, guardians, siblings) who has not earned a college degree;

3) Have obtained an ACT reading score of at least 20 as a junior or senior.

The one-page application with ACT reading score, age, address and verification that there is no college graduate among immediate family must be signed by 1) the student's high school guidance counselor, 2) the local board of education chairman and 3) the district superintendent.
