2016-17 School Year Info
Dear Robert B. Turner Elementary School Parent:

We want to welcome you to Robert B. Turner Elementary School for the upcoming 2016-17 school year. As a former coach, we emphasize the TEAM approach with students, staff, and parents working together as one. We have a great staff that works with students and parents to form a winning team. We are proud of the fact that we had the highest test scores for any school in the country for the past 4 years. Our school was rated Proficient for two years, and over the last two years have been labeled Distinguished, the highest rating that you can receive. We finished at the 99% and ranked #32 in 2014 and at the 98% and ranked #73 out of 720 elementary schools in 2015. This was based on the KPREP State Assessment that 3rd-4th- and 5th graders take each spring.

Three of the past six years, we had the Campbellsville University Elementary School Teacher of the Year from Anderson County. We had two teachers present at the Kentucky State Math Conference in Lexington and will have four teachers present at the ICLE International Conference in Orlando, Florida in June.

We have programs for both educational and entertainment purposes such as the Chinese and African Acrobats, Cincinnati Jump Rope Team, Tates Creek High School Step Team, Ball handling with George, Wulfe Brothers, Campbellsville University Steel Drum Band, The Dome Theatre, guest speakers such as Jared Polson, J.P. Blevins, Victoria Dunlap, Darius Miller, and Amber Smith. We have school activities for parents and students such as Pumpkin Carving with Dads, Dr. Seuss Read-a-thon, and Titan Fest to name a few. We have musical performances by each grade level throughout the school year. We have contests throughout the school year that enable students to win fruit punch, ice cream sundaes, and pop corn. Our top 20 Accelerated Reader students each year get a free field trip to Joseph Beth bookstore in Lexington and money to spend on books and food. Our Power of Positive Students (POPS) program and Citizen of the Month recognition program recognize students once a month for good deeds with prizes ranging in gift from basketballs, footballs, stuffed animals, t-shirts, etc. We have four Specials that you child will go to during each week consisting of Music, PE, Art, Library, and sometimes Guidance. We have reading and Math Specialists to assist students needing extra time to reinforce their learning skills.
