Information Regarding Cancellation, Delays, and Early Dismissal

Winter weather conditions sometimes prompt Anderson County Schools to alter routines or schedules in the district. Students' safety is a top priority, so on snowy or icy days, a team of district employees begins assessing road conditions as early as 4:00 a.m. School leaders - in consultation with the National Weather Service and Anderson County Emergency Management Director, Bart Powell - consider road safety, outdoor temperatures and the weather forecast in order to make a decision by 5:45 a.m.

Whenever roads are unsafe for travel, there are three choices:

  • Cancel school
  • Delay the start of school
  • Dismiss school early

Please remember that road conditions vary throughout the community. Roads on one end of the county might be clear while other areas are still treacherous. These decisions are based on what is safe for all students.
