Anderson County leader elected to Kentucky School Boards Association board

Frankfort, Ky. (Oct. 1, 2013) -- A member of the Anderson County Board of Education has been elected to the board of directors of the largest organization of elected officials in Kentucky.

James M. Sargent of Lawrenceburg will serve a three-year term as Central Kentucky Region chairperson of the Kentucky School Boards Association (KSBA).  He will represent school board members from the Anderson, Bourbon, Boyle, Clark, Estill, Fayette, Franklin, Garrard, Harrison, Jackson, Jessamine, Lincoln, Madison, Mercer, Montgomery, Nicholas, Powell, Robertson, Rockcastle, Scott and Woodford county districts and the Berea, Burgin, Danville, Frankfort and Paris independent systems on the association’s 27-member governing board.

Sargent is in his fourth year on the Anderson County board.  A graduate of the Frankfort High School and Bluegrass Community and Technical College, he is a service technician for AT&T. Sargent is recipient of the KSBA Kids First Advocacy Award and serves on the board of directors of the Anderson County/Franklin County Court Appointed Special Advocates. He replaces Woodford County board member Ambrose Wilson IV on the KSBA board.

Established in 1936, the nearly 900-member KSBA represents school districts and local boards of education in all of Kentucky’s public school systems, providing training, consultation, advocacy and numerous other services to school officials statewide.
