Seniors Cap and gown announcement:
Order date is November 9th during all lunches.  See attached order form.  If you have a question call Balfour.  



Any student wanting to take the ASVAB may sign up on Ms. Miracle's door.  Once with have at least 15 sign up we will schedule a test date.

Craft Academy is excited to join Morehead State University’s Open House event on Saturday, November 4.  
We would like to extend an invitation to any student (sophomore level and below) who is interested in applying to Craft Academy to attend our upcoming Open House event.
 
Open House is a great time for interested students to show their families what Craft Academy has to offer. 
 
For current sophomores we would also like to remind you that the last day to register for the December ACT test is November 3.  Late Fee Registration is from November 4-17.  The December ACT test is the last opportunity to take the ACT and get your test scores back by our application deadline (February 1, 2018).  If you plan on applying for the Class of 2020 be sure that you are registered to take this ACT test if you have not yet taken the ACT, or if you are looking to increase your scores.

=        Meet MSU faculty and staff, and learn more about MSU’s academic departments
=        Meet Craft Academy staff and Craft Academy Ambassadors during our presentation and question answer session  
=        Tour through Grote-Thompson Hall, where Craft Academy students live.

Senior and Junior BCTC Dual Credit students and parents:
Please see attached instructions for choosing which class(es) you would like to be your "scholarship" class(es). You can have a maximum of 2 scholarship classes during your high school career. Remember that BIO 112 and BIO 113 count as one class for this scholarship purpose.

Dear Bridget, 

Applications are open for the ACT Student Champion Award! The ACT Student Champion Award recognizes one student in each state who is tenacious and persistent, no matter the challenge, and is prepared for life after high school with a goal in mind and plan in place. 

ACT Student Champions receive a $500 non-renewable scholarship, certificate, plaque, and state-level recognition. 

Please encourage students in the graduating class of 2018 who have taken the ACT who fit the following criteria to apply: 
  • A student who has overcome challenges and can articulate education and career actions
  • Students must have a composite ACT score of a 22 on a single test date or a 3.0 or greater on a 4.0 scale
  • Preference will be given to underrepresented and/or first-generation college students.
Applications can be found at www.act.org/readinesschampions. Applications are due December 31, 2017, and champions will be notified on or before April 2, 2018. If applicants are under the age of 18, they must complete this form in addition to the application.

1. The first scholarship is the Animation Career Review "Aspiring Animation Professional" Scholarship. This $1000 scholarship is awarded annually to a student interested in pursuing an animation related degree at an accredited post-secondary school or college. Interested students can visit AnimationCareerReview.com to find eligibility information along with an online application. This is the seventh year we have offered this scholarship. 

2. The second scholarship is the Fashion Schools "Aspiring Fashion Professional" Scholarship. This $1000 scholarship is awarded annually to a student interested in pursuing a fashion degree at an accredited post-secondary school or college.  Interested students can visit Fashion-Schools.org to find eligibility information along with an online application. This is the fifth year we have offered this scholarship. 

3. The third scholarship is the Online MBA Report "Aspiring Business Professional" Scholarship. This $1,000 scholarship is awarded annually to a student interested in pursuing a business degree at any accredited post-secondary school or college. Interested students can visit OnlineMBAReport.com to find eligibility information along with an online application. This is the third year we have offered this scholarship. 

The deadline for all three scholarships is June 1, 2018

With the UofL scholarship application now available, we are actively working with high school counselors to gather the names of academically talented Black/African American and Hispanic/Latino seniors who qualify for specific scholarships. We ask that you please review the following UofL diversity scholarship descriptions and criteria, and follow the links to nominate your students as soon as possible. The scholarship application deadline is December 15, 2017.
Woodford R. Porter Scholarship
Black/African American Students with 3.0 GPA and 20 ACT
The Woodford R. Porter Scholarship was named after the former trustee, Woodford R. Porter Sr., known for his dedication to strong advocacy for education in Louisville, KY. His famous saying was "education is the great equalizer," as he believed it to be the ultimate path towards self and collective improvement. This scholarship annually provides over 200 Black/African American students with a variety of awards ranging from $2,000 to full in-state tuition, plus a stipend to cover room, food and book expenses. Learn more about the Woodford R. While consideration for this scholarship typically requires a 3.0 GPA and 20 ACT, please nominate students with scores as low as a 2.9 GPA and an 18 ACT.

Martin Luther King Scholars Program
Black/African American or Hispanic/Latino Students with 3.5 GPA and 26 ACT or 1240 SAT
The Martin Luther King Scholars participate in an engaging leadership development program while enrolled at the University of Louisville. In this mentored scholar program, students have the opportunity to explore issues surrounding peace and social justice through course work, service learning, and a unique immersion trip. In addition to a specialized academic track and other unique opportunities, the program provides full in-state tuition plus an $8,000 stipend to cover other university expenses.  Learn more about the MLK Scholars Program and criteria for consideration.
While consideration for this program typically requires a 3.5 GPA and 26 ACT or 1240 SAT, please nominate students with scores as low as 3.4 GPA and 24 ACT or 1160 SAT.
