The best way to get a sense of the authentic MSU experience is to visit campus and see it for yourself. Whether you come by yourself or bring along family and friends, a visit to MSU will allow you to:

NO School on Monday January 21st for MLK Day.

This is an excellent opportunity for Anderson Count high school students to attend a FREE (transportation is also free) youth conference sponsored by the Empower KY Youth organization.  The S.O.S. Youth Coalition works with the organization through its Y.E.S. grants.

S.O.S. YC has been invited and will be given priority for acceptance to the Conference, but all students at ACHS are invited to make application to attend due to S.O.S. YC having received Y.E.S. grants.  Rising 9th-12th graders are eligible to attend (current seniors are not eligible).

Students who attend the conference will be invited to attend a larger conference in September to work on programs that impact high school students.

Governor’s School for Entrepreneurs accepting applications

Applications will be accepted beginning Nov. 16 for the 2019 Governor’s School for Entrepreneurs June 23-July 13 at Northern Kentucky University in Highland Heights. The free program is open to students in grades 9-11, and participants can earn high school class credit and scholarships to Kentucky colleges and universities.

The Governor’s School for Entrepreneurs (GSE), which was established in 2013, brings teens from across the state into a three-week residential program and immerses them in an authentic entrepreneurial experience. Students learn more about the opportunities, benefits and pitfalls of taking a business concept from the idea phase to pitching it to potential investors.

The program brings educators, professionals, innovators, businesses and business leaders together to transition young people out of the classroom and into a real-world mindset. Entrepreneurs leave the program with not only the real world tools to start a business, but also a network of contacts from around the state that includes other students and business leaders.

GSE’s partnership with NKU, where the program is moving next year, will target the secondary and post-secondary level to cultivate talented entrepreneurs. Year-round initiatives will be developed to focus on sparking the entrepreneurial passion of Kentucky’s youth.

The application deadline is Jan. 20. Visit the GSE website for more information.
