Personally Owned Electronic Devices

Starting on September 12th, students at Anderson County Middle School will be allowed to use iPads, laptops, and other personally owned electronic devices on the school’s wireless network in classes where teachers give permission. This will not however, change the current electronic use policy. In order to use your device, with teacher permission, and have access to the wireless network, you must follow these procedures:

1. Have your AUP signed and turned in to Mrs. Miller in the library.

2. Complete a Digital Driver’s License test

     that is linked below.

Students may complete the test at home or

on a school computer.  A score of at least

80% is required to pass the test.

*An instructional video on how to take the

     test is linked below.

Once the test is completed, it may take up to 48 hours for a student to have their rights for the PODNet (Personally Owned Devices Network) to be granted.

This new privilege in no way changes the current electronic use policy. Cell phones and like devices may not be out in the hallways or used in a classroom unless the teacher is having students use it for a specific academic purpose. All violations of the policy will be dealt with on an individual basis.

In addition, if a student has permission to use a personally owned electronic device in a classroom, but is using it for a purpose other than the one given, they will face confiscation and disciplinary consequences.

All devices must be registered through the process above to be used at ACMS.

If you have questions about this policy please contact Mrs. Fultz. For questions regarding the Digital Driver’s License or logging a personally owned device onto the Anderson County Schools Network, please contact Mrs. Miller.

We appreciate your continued support in helping your child receive the best education possible.
